the mysterious donnie tempo has been producing house music for over twenty years. his first release as donnie tempo was back in 2001 on larry heards alleviated records, demonstrating his old school acid inspired productions. donnie tempo unleashes the systems on ep due for release in september on mamsw. the ep drops two previously unreleased tracks recorded between 1989-91 and one new production tcb, that shows that the original chicago house sound still runs deep. finally, donnie has found a new home to release the uncharted authentic house jamz that hes created. stay tuned.

edmondson first came to my attention with his lobster theramin distributed release, flamingo tripper, on his own label lissoms. or so i thought. turns out he was actually a guy who used to serve me in one of my favourite pubs in newcastle. back in those days he was a dub step / drum and bass kid, and as per the trend with all of those guys, hes now showing the house heads how its done, with a much keener feel for sound design, groove and a better ear for a sample than 90% of us lazy people who cut our teeth on a 4/4 beat. edmondson (or sean as i did know him and how i know him once again) is really one of the most exciting producers out there right now for me, and i couldnt be happier that weve reconnected and hes kindly allowed me me me to present some of his amazing music. we have love is an instant classic, and psg is a work of pure emotive art. to remix we have love, ive enlisted dauwd (fresh from his amazing album on technicolour). sean suggested him, and i jumped on the suggestion as he was one of the first people i met when i moved to berlin 4 years ago, and ive been trying to figure out a way of working with him since. he takes a we have love down a kind of more delicate and steppy route. its very pretty, but also really makes you want to dance. to remix psg i asked asok. again, i thought i first met asok about 7 or 8 years ago, when he came and played for a party i used to throw in newcastle. after becoming good friends over the years, we got chatting and it turned out that we were both in magaluf in 1998, and may have actually been involved in the same street brawl. thats not something either of us are proud of, but its definitely food for thought. i’m biased, but i think his remix is my favourite thing he’s ever done, and i love everything he’s touched musically to date, so thats probably an even bigger endorsement than it first seems. his version is big.

love injection is the latest instalment from glitterbox recordings, the one and only 21st century disco. selected by label boss simon dunmore, the eight-track double 12inch package showcases the finest producers making disco and dancefloor-ready house cuts in the here and now. rapson, reverendos of soul, bb boogie, david harness and sisy ey make up some of the contemporary contingent proving that the disco spirit is alive and well. simon has also included respectful nods to the golden-era voices of gwen guthrie and cece rogers.

for our second ep, we are shifting from manila, philippines, to our other home city, bangkok, the thai kingdom’s capital. hailing from here is dott, one of three founders of more rice, a truly home grown bangkok electronic producer, dj and the talent behind mah noi ep. dott already has a number of releases under his belt and is now a regular on the asian circuit, playing gigs around the region. at 26 years old this is quite impres- sive and we are very proud to be releasing his first pressed record under more rice.
mah noi ep embodies dott’s sound, which is deep, driven and moody, whilst keeping an organic twist throughout and clearly inspired by his home country, the key to setting the release apart and making it tasty for more rice. the careful and precise placement of vintage thai samples gives it that extra flavour and mystery that can engulf the listeners and dancers, whilst the remix by eric volta truly transports you to another dimension.

as one of the first dutch musicians to establish a vital connection between detroit and amsterdam, orlando voorn has long been recognized as one of the netherland’s most original and inventive producers in the world of electronic dance music. voorn began djing at the tender age of 12 and went on to win the dutch dmc dj championships in 1986 with his own characteristic blend of hiphop and electro. towards the end of the eighties he acquired his first sequencer, packed away his turntables and turned his hand to producing.

soul pattern is the name of mac-kee’s new vinyl label. it’s synonymous with the musical focus on different spheres of house, especially raw house and chicago house, in which the art of the dj is rooted since the early 1990s. but anyone who thinks, that the label will be limited by following a pattern like scheme, is very much mistaken! rather soul pattern wants to reinvent itself with every release.

what about this love is not only a famous larry heard song but now it s also a house music label. the first release sees the detroit outsider javonntte and the berliner-italian deep88 on a real underground raw house song, matching the detroit soul house with the rawness and liveness of the italian producer, creating an epic vocal track, something that could have been made in the golden age of house music. on the flip there s the melchior sultana treatment, a name that is rising release after release thanks to his works and nothing else, playing all the kinds of instruments and being able of using sequencers and drum machines creating a perfect balance between a real musician and a serious house producer, add to all this a deep88 remix and a javonntte amazing dub version and the watl01 is served. more to come.

there is a long-standing love affair between dj harvey and pikes, ibiza. as well as coming back for his third consecutive ‘mercury rising’ residency, the legendary ‘djs’ dj has been appointed ‘cultural attaché’ for pikes, meaning his magic touch and feel-good presence will create even more special moments at pikes this summer, including the launch of new label, pikes records.
